Plenty of emotions.

Throughout the reading of the story Frankenstein , I have been noticing some passion vs. reason. Both with the monster and Victor you can see that passion is taking over reasoning in some cases, I say this because there are times through out the story when one could see that they let their emotions rule what they are doing. An example of my opinion would be when Victor says “ I thought with a sensation of madness on my promise of creating another like him, and trembling with passion, tore to pieces the thing on which I engaged” ( Shelley 115). This quote shows how Victor chose passion over reason, it shows that because he started to created the monster a mate because he feared the monster‘s power, then he realizes his hatred for the monster and destroys what he has started to create for him. The destroying of the soon to be mate of the monster, made the monster very unpleasant and he was full of rage. During his argument with Victor the monster told him “ Remember that I have the power; you believe yourself miserable, but I can make you so wretched that the light of day will be hateful to you” ( Shelley 116). This quote from the monster is full of passion in my eyes. To me it shows how passionate he is to have somebody for him, and he will do anything to obtain that. Hopefully, throughout the rest of the story some thoughts and situations should be ran with reasoning.

  1. I agree the Monster was a very emotional creature. I could almost hear him crying as I read the Text."But it is even so; the fallen angel becomes a malignant devil. Yet even that enemy of God and man had friends and associates in his desolation: I am quite alone" (Shelley 154). At times I was like come on man who has the tissue the big baby is crying again.

The funny thing about this emotionally unstable creature is the only time we wasn't feeling sorry for himself was when he was killing or being a peeping Tom. As I said before this guy has some serious anti-social skills.

  2. I agree. The monster and Victor were very sensitive and emotional beings. They both let rage and pride rule over there well being.Victor's grief turned into rage and despair. He was sickened that his love ones were dead and that he, Victor, lived and that the murderer was alive as well. He swore to get even and to pursue the monster."I swear to pursue the daemon, who caused this misery, until he or I should perish in mortal conflict. For this purpose I will perserve my life:to excute this dear revenge, will I again behold the sun,and tread the green herbage of earth, which otherwise should vanish from my eyes for ever"(Shelly 140).Victors emotions ran strong when he would find teasing and challenging comments along the trail."Scoffing devil! Again do I vow vengange; again do i devote the, miserable friend, to torture and death.Never will I omit my search, until he or I perish": (Shelly 142). The monstwer was living on high emotions also he left Victor a message on the trail saying "Prepare!your toils only began: wrap yourself in furs, and provide food, for we shall soon enter upon a journey where your sufferings will satisfy my everlasting hatred" (Shelly 143).They both let emotions rule their mind and that in most cases leads to destruction.
